Dear jumjum...
This morning on the way to church my phone restarted, which is pretty usual for me so I didn't bother. But it froze on the starting up page until after mass so I started getting worried...and nothing I tried would resolve the problem, so I decided to go to the Samsung service centre in Mongkok (nearest).
I knew it was in Langham Place, but I overlooked the sign at the MTR in my hurry and took the wrong exit. When I finally arrived there I looked for it on the directory to no avail. So I asked the woman at the info counter, who was most unhelpful. She seemed bored and all she told me was to go to the 10th floor- she didn't even tell me that Langham Place is a hotel, shopping mall and an office tower all connected. Of course, I got lost (it was in the office tower). Tried to ask some shop assistants who didn't even bother to answer me. When I finally got there, the woman told me that the warranty is only valid in Malaysia so I'll have to pay 350hkd just to have it checked, and it might take up to two days. So I decided against it and went out to try and find a phone repair shop.....but I couldn't find any. At this point I was almost crying because:
1. I always rant to my family and friends in situations like this, but I couldn't contact anyone and felt so alone.
2. I didn't even know what the heck the time was.
3. How much time I spent was crucial because my midterms start this week and I have so much to cover.
4. I rely heavily on Google maps to get around and that was impossible now.
5. Had a 6-hour dance practice yesterday and I'm not exactly fit, so my butt and thighs were getting sore-r with every step I took.
So I was like, nope, you're not allowed to cry! and got some burger (I judged it to be dinner time). Honestly it was so good and comforting it made me feel much better. Then I decided to just go back to the Samsung centre. Another guy attended me and he told me that since I bought my phone overseas, they will have to change the motherboard no matter the problem, and it'll cost 2000hkd, plus the 350 labour cost. He was the first helpful person I met all day- he advised me to just go to an unofficial repair shop and even wrote down the name of the electronics mall for me.
I found the mall and this dude said it was a hardware problem and that he'll have to change some part for me, for 700hkd, which I negotiated with him but I only managed to get it down to 650. I had to wait almost 3 hours for it so I walked around Mongkok. Here's the deal: a. Mongkok is a tourist-y shopping district with lots to look at. b. I am on a tight budget cause I was over-budget last month due to all the start up costs. c. I just spent 650hkd for the stupid phone. Well I survived...but I think I'll be eating grass this month =(
I got back so late =( oh yes all my phone memory is lost! Thank God I just transferred my photos to my computer. My bus seat was so smelly and now I have a big headache. So bye.
